Raquetball at La Mariposa
If you are looking for a fast way to burn fat, play racquetball for a fantastic fitness routine. Along with the calorie-burning benefits, playing racquetball has proven to be a total body toner that enhances flexibility. Whether you’re an accomplished athlete, an aerobics-class regular or just starting a fitness regime, here’s why you should play racquetball:
Reason #1: It’s a Great All-Over Workout
Let’s face it: Most of us have limited time and money to dedicate to our fabulous figures. That’s what makes racquetball a spectacular choice. Not only does it put you on the fast track to a fit figure, it requires an even more limited equipment investment. Best of all, it’s never boring, so you don’t find yourself staring at the clock, willing the hands to move faster. For the average 130-pound woman, one hour of casual racquetball racks up 413 calories; that’s more than an hour of tennis or weightlifting!
Reason #2: Playing Racquetball Makes Your Body Think Muscles are smart. Once they master a movement, the workout benefits decrease ever so slightly. That’s why you see trainers and boot camp leaders constantly shaking up their exercise routines. On the racquetball court, the ball is coming from every angle, and the possibilities are endless. The result? More calories burned, with your mind and body working harder, adjusting and reacting to the constant change of game play.
Reason #3: Racquetball Is Easy To Learn
The rules of the game are pretty simple: Do whatever it takes to hit that bouncy blue ball to the front wall. Then, master a rally. Once you do, you and your partner(s) can start scoring. And scoring a game of racquetball is easy. Essentially, you only win points when you serve. So if you’re the server and you win a rally, you get a point. Your opponent is challenging you for the right to serve so he/she can earn points. A full game equals 15 points, and you only have to win by one point.
